Students revolt against Otuoke University management

The Federal University Otuoke Bayelsa State has suspended its 1st-semester examinations as students of the school protested over what they described as poor management administration and closure of course registration portal.

The protest which started on Friday October 29, 2021, resumed in the early hour of Monday. The students had earlier met with the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Omoru who according to the students asked them to go and commit suicide.

It was reported that the Students pleaded with the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Teddy Addias, but without any positive result.

The students in their hundreds stood against the University’s obnoxious policies which have rendered most of their colleagues helpless in pursuing their academic activities.

One of the students who spoke to our reporter in anonymity says the University’s new management is not friendly with the poor students. He said the school is fast becoming an “indigenous” University without room for universal principles which the academic environment is known for.

The University through its Registrar Mr. Yousou Donald issued a memo announcing the suspension of the scheduled examination till a later date.

Efforts to reach the University Public Relations unit failed, Starnews Nigeria reports.
