Students Attack Ogun Deputy Governor’s Convoy in Abeokuta

Protesting students from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) on Wednesday attacked the convoy of Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, in Abeokuta.

The Deputy Governor was on her way to represent Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day event held at the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala.

The students, armed with sticks and other harmful objects, blocked the road and damaged some vehicles in the convoy.

Attempts by security personnel to calm the protesters and clear the path were unsuccessful.

The situation escalated when the students identified the Deputy Governor, leading to a more aggressive response, Naija News reports.

To prevent further violence, the convoy rerouted to her lodge, allowing the students to disperse.

Despite these efforts, security operatives sustained injuries, and vehicles in the convoy were damaged during the confrontation.
