Speeding driver hits FRSC officer, escapes from scene

An unknown driver hit an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) while on duty in Osun State on Friday.

The incident occurred on Friday morning while the officer was performing regular road duties. The vehicle, heading towards Gbongan, approached the officer and his colleague.

Eyewitness Salam Ademola reported that upon noticing the speeding car, other officers ran to safety. However, the victim hesitated, attempting to stop the driver.

Ademola stated, “Other officers quickly ran to safety, but the officer who was hit waited, believing the driver would stop. Unfortunately, when he finally tried to run, it was too late. The car knocked him off the road and dragged him a few meters. The driver did not stop after the incident.”

In response, Osun State FRSC Sector Commander Inyang Umoh said the injured officer is in stable condition and efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing driver. “The officer is in stable condition. We are making efforts to arrest the driver, but he has not been caught yet,” Umoh stated.
