Sowore Attacked at Lagos City Marathon

Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, was attacked on Saturday morning during the Lagos City Marathon.

A group of men confronted him and his team, also targeting journalists covering the event.

The attackers reportedly damaged cameras and other equipment belonging to Sowore’s crew and journalists.

The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2023 elections later shared a video of the incident on X.

Sowore, known for his participation in international marathons, has often spoken about the endurance required for long-distance running and activism.

The Lagos City Marathon, sponsored by Access Bank, attracted thousands of local and international runners in its 10km and 42.5km race categories.
