Son allegedly murders father in Jigawa community

Tragedy struck in Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District of Gwaram Local Government Area, Jigawa State, as a 20-year-old man, identified as Muhammad Salisu, allegedly killed his 52-year-old biological father, Salisu Abubakar.

According to a resident who spoke with the Daily Post, the horrifying incident took place on Monday night.

Family members reportedly woke up to find Salisu Abubakar lying in a pool of blood with multiple lacerations covering his body. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but was declared dead by a medical doctor.

Confirming the event, the spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, revealed in a statement that the suspect attacked his father with a machete, leaving deep wounds on his neck, chest, and shoulder.

The Divisional Police Officer from Sara, along with his team, responded swiftly and transported the victim to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect has since been apprehended, and the weapon used in the assault was recovered.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP AT Abdullahi, has ordered that the matter be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for thorough investigation. The suspect is expected to be prosecuted once investigations are complete.
