Shooting by guard leaves LAUTECH student dead, two others injured

 

A purported accidental discharge from the firearm of an unidentified security agent on Tuesday in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, resulted in the death of a student from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and injuries to two others.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the institution when the security agent was called upon to mediate a dispute between two individuals on campus.

An eyewitness recounted that the security agent allegedly fired shots into the air while intervening in the situation.

Tragically, one student lost their life as a result of being struck by a bullet during the incident, while two additional students sustained injuries.

The incident reportedly triggered a riot in the school as students locked the school’s gates in protest, seeking for justice for the deceased.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation had commenced.

“Investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly please,” Osifeso said.
