Nicholas Tofowomo, the senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has distributed 100 Motorcycles and 100 Sewing Machines to empower his constituents across the six local governments of Ondo South Senatorial District in Ondo State.

The programme took place on Tuesday at Ileoluji town hall, Ondo State.

The Senator had on Monday (yesterday), sponsored a Computer Training and Empowerment of 150 Youths in Ondo South, bringing the total number of constituents empowered between Monday and Tuesday to 350.

Starnews Nigeria reports that immediately after the training yesterday, each beneficiary of the ICT training was given one HP computer system with 3-in -one wireless HP printer that can print, scan, and photocopy.

TOFOWOMO said the training of 150 youths in ICT and the empowerment of 200 constituents with sewing machines and motorcycles is just a tip of the iceberg.

According to the Senator, the training of the youths is to change the old order where people are being given money instead of training them on skills for self-reliant.

The sewing machines are to support those in tailoring and dressmaking, the senator said on Tuesday afternoon.

His words:

“Better things are still coming, what you see today is a tip of the iceberg, by December, I will roll out another set of empowerment. Our students will be given scholarships, I will facilitate more projects to my constituency.”

“Just yesterday, we trained 150 people on ICT and today we gave out 100 motorcycles to support our farmers in the area of transportation and 100 sewing machine to assist tailors in Ondo South Senatorial District”.

The Ondo South Senator has also promised the women in Ondo South of interest-free loan and more laudable empowerment programmes for the women.

“I will facilitate grants and interest-free loan scheme to the women by December. I will do more laudable programmes for our women in our subsequent empowerment programmes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the immediate past National Vice Chairman (South West) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Eddy Olafeso, has advised all the beneficiaries to take advantage of the empowerment programme to start up their businesses.

He advised them not to sell any of the items so that the purpose of the programmes would not be defeated.

“Take advantage of this empowerment programme. These items are not meant to be sold. Not a lot of people know that this is a life opportunity created for them by the Senator as a means of livelihood”, Olafeso said
