Reps Adjourn Meeting With Rivers Sole Administrator

The House of Representatives’ planned session with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retired), has been moved to a later date.

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM in Abuja.

This delay followed a formal letter from Ibas asking for the meeting to be rescheduled.

He did not state the exact reason for the request, but the committee agreed to postpone it.

The interactive session was meant to follow the committee’s first meeting since it was set up by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen on Tuesday, April 15.

The committee was created to monitor and report on developments in Rivers State after the appointment of Ibas as Sole Administrator.

Earlier, the spokesperson for the House, Akin Rotimi Jnr, had revealed that the session would allow the committee to go over early findings and reports about the state’s situation.

It would also help the lawmakers carry out their duties under the 1999 Constitution, which permits the House to take action when a state is under special oversight.

The committee still plans to meet with Ibas at a later date.

When the session eventually holds, it is expected to give the lawmakers a clearer picture of the events and decisions being made in Rivers State.
