• PDP leaders, delegates give nod
• As Eddy Olafeso expresses satisfaction over massive turnouts

A crowd of party leaders and delegates led by Chief Eddy Olafeso have extended their support for Hon Sheba Abayomi, former Chairman of Federal Character Commission who formally declared his intention to seek the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s nomination to contest the 2023 House of Representatives Election under Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.

Sheba declared his intention yesterday in Okitipupa town, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The expression of Sheba’s intention to contest the 2023 election was chorused with the shouts of “IRELE LOKAN” (meaning it is the turn of Irele Community) by the multitude of party leaders and delegates who graced the occasion.

By this development, Sheba has become the first person to declare his ambition to run for the plum office of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency under the PDP.

Addressing a crowd of PDP leaders, Starnews Nigeria reports that Sheba who was the only elected member of the PDP in the House of Representatives in 1999 from Ondo State, said he decided to offer himself to restore the lost hope of constituents and make Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency work again.

He said: “With the support of our leaders and delegates here, I decided to offer myself for this position to return to the House of Representatives for the second time to restore the lost hope of constituents due to the poor representation we are witnessing now so that our federal constituency can work again”.

Speaking at the event, Dr Eddy Olafeso, former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West, expressed happiness and satisfaction at the massive turnout of party leaders and delegates; he, therefore, prayed for the success of Sheba at the party’s primary.

In his words: “I am happy and satisfied at the massive turnout of party leaders and delegates here today. I can see that all the relevant stakeholders are solidly behind Sheba. I do not have much to say than to pray for him not to disappoint the party”, Olafeso added.

Born in the 60s to High Chief Emmanuel and Reverend Mother Esther Sheba in Ode Irele, Irele Local Government of Ondo State, Barr. Sheba Abayomi attended St. Andrew Pry School, United Grammar School, Ode Irele. He proceeded to the University of Ilorin from 1985 to 1989, and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, from 1995 and left in 1997 with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

He also bagged Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with SecondClass, Upper Division at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko from 2007 to 2011.

Sheba joined the PDP in 1998. He was elected member of the Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the PDP in 1999. He is happily married with kids.

Meanwhile, Starnews Nigeria reports that at the venue of his declaration were notable leaders of the party, such as Chief Olorogun Eddy Olafeso, Senator Boluwaji Kunlere, RT. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, and the PDP Senatorial chairman in Ondo South, Elder Amos Fadope. We also have Okitipupa Local Government PDP Chairman, Adewo Sola, Chief Ibine, former State Secretary of the PDP in Ondo State.

Others include Okitipupa Local Government PDP Secretary, Mr Alli Akindele, the Youth leader, Ajila Lambo, and Hon. Bitire Solomon, a renowned PDP Stalwart in Ondo State and the Senior Legislative Aide to Sen Nicholas Tofowomo.

Also in attendance were: Hon. Adebusoye Niyi, a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Larry Ogunmusire, former executive Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Bamido Omogbehin, a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, and Chief Ogunwa Oboli, a World Bank Consultant and a prominent politician from Okitipupa LG who was a former Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Olusegun Mimiko on Infrastructure.

The Vice-chairman of PDP in Okitipupa Local Government, Hon Christopher Ojomo, Chief Olowofunire, Hon. Tibetan Osunlowo, Chief Adele, Hon. Adeolu Akinseye(Assistant State Treasurer) also graced the occasion.

The Assistant PDP Local Government Secretary in Okitipupa, Ojo Enisan, Hon. Ademola Iseyemi, Mrs Pirisola, and 12 local government PDP Executives in Okitipupa Local Government were also there.
