The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 952 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
Head of Press and Public Relations of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the Commission, however, declined the promotion of 176 ASPs who had retired from service and three others who were confirmed dead.
The decision was part of the outcome of the first plenary meeting of the 6th Board of the Commission, held at its corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers while urging them to uphold professionalism, nationalism, and respect for the laws and regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.
Argungu warned that the Commission would no longer tolerate diversionary or unauthorized actions by officers, stressing that the Police Service has laid down channels for addressing grievances.
He assured the officers that the Commission remains committed to protecting their career progression and ensuring fairness in promotions and other welfare matters.
