National Assembly Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ondo Central and Akure North/South Federal Constituency, Bashorun Ifedayo Adedipe, SAN, and Princess Kemisola Adesanya, on Sunday afternoon, described as mischievous the campaign posters pasted within Akure metropolis displaying their pictures with that of All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The duo in a press conference at the PDP’s Secretariat in Akure, Ondo State, disowned the group, Akure Progressive Forum, which purportedly designed and pasted the said posters within Akure metropolis, saying that they have no connection with them, and therefore, urged the electorate and their supporters to vote for all the candidates presented by the PDP across the board in the February 25, and March 11, 2023, general elections in the country.

“We are here this afternoon to further respond to posters pasted within Akure metropolis displaying our pictures, Bashorun Ifedayo Adedipe and Hon Kemi Adesanya with that of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, purportedly designed and pasted by a group of people called Akure Progressive Forum. We will like to say with emphasis that this group is unknown to us.

“We have immediately responded through a joint press release which was under-reported, hence the need for this press conference.

“We are candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party and have no connection whatsoever with the said group,” they said.

Starnews Nigeria reports that Adesanya and Adedipe said they are focused with a clear direction on their ambitions, political ideologies, and that of the PDP while welcoming support from members of other political parties who believe in their personalities and ability to represent them well at the National Assembly, but they insisted that their belief, unalloyed, and unflinching support is for the PDP and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“We hereby wish to further reiterate our commitment to our party and our ambition for a quality representation, for the good people of our constituencies, to influence policies, that will improve the lives of our constituents. We believe there are so many ways to better the lives of our people, than the present situation in the country.

“We hereby urge our supporters and the electorates as a whole to remain resolute and vote for a new narrative represented by the PDP, to rescue Nigeria, come 25th of February and 11th of March, 2023.

“We urge the electorates, to vote for all the candidates presented by the PDP across the board, to put an end to the hardship and the abysmal failure of the present APC government”, they added.

Earlier, the state chairman of the party in Ondo State, Hon Fatai Adams, in a short remark, passed a vote of confidence on the PDP National Executives led by Senator Iyorchia Ayu, adding however that Atiku Abubakar remains the presidential candidate of the PDP in Ondo State and the incoming president of Nigeria.

He added that “there is no division in Ondo State PDP. The posters pasted across the Akure metropolis with pictures of our candidates with that of Tinubu is strange to us”, he said.

Hon Adams described the said posters as the handwork of detractors sponsored by the ruling APC  to misinform and mislead the unsuspecting public.
