Controversial hip-hop artiste Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, managed to avoid a three-month jail sentence by paying a N30,000 fine.
The Chief Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ogun State, sentenced Portable on May 1, 2025, after he was found guilty of assault.
The charges, presented by Police Prosecutor Inspector Olumide Awoleke, stated that Portable, along with others still at large, assaulted Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi on November 18, 2022, in Okeosa, Ilogbo, Ogun State.
According to the charge, Portable beat Oluwafemi, causing bodily harm, which led to the assault charge.
The case also involved theft, as Portable was accused of stealing musical equipment, including a Yamaha H55 studio monitor and an AKG P420 condenser microphone, among others.
Magistrate Babajide Ilo sentenced Portable to one month in prison with a N10,000 fine for the assault, and two months in prison with a N20,000 fine for the theft.
Portable had previously been arrested in April 2023 and granted bail, but he was later brought back to court after missing some court dates.
