The Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, has resumed work at the Commission’s Area Office in Igbokoda, declaring the office central to efforts aimed at simplifying administration and deepening access to governance for people in the mandate areas.
Poroye, who spoke shortly after assuming duties at the office, said the decision was driven by the need to make the Commission more accessible and responsive, while ensuring efficient service delivery.
He stressed that leadership visibility was necessary for effective development planning and for close supervision of ongoing and proposed projects.
He explained that the establishment of the Area Office was meant to reduce administrative bottlenecks and bring the activities of the Commission closer to the people it serves.
According to him, “I intend to spend more time here so that our people can have easier access to us.
“Many of the projects being executed by the Commission require close monitoring, especially as we continue to strengthen the institution. Leadership presence is essential, which is why I am committed to being here, engaging with our people and responding to the concerns of stakeholders.”
The OSOPADEC chairman said his resumption at the Igbokoda office formed part of a wider resolve by his administration to connect with grassroots communities, ensure proper attention to projects across the Commission’s mandate areas and promote ownership of such projects by the people.
He reassured residents that OSOPADEC, under his leadership, remained focused on fulfilling its statutory responsibilities.
Poroye also disclosed that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had given the Commission a firm directive at the beginning of the administration to commence work immediately and reassure the people of its readiness to meet their expectations.
He said, “The Governor has given a clear directive, and we are making every effort to meet those expectations.”
In his interaction with staff of the Area Office, Poroye emphasised the values of professionalism, initiative, discipline and respect for constituted authority. He announced that plans were underway to roll out enhanced welfare packages and capacity development programmes, adding that staff of the Area Office, alongside teachers and health workers, would be the first to benefit from training programmes and workshops slated for the year.
He further revealed that the Commission would introduce electronic identity cards for staff as part of measures to improve punctuality, attendance and operational efficiency.
During the visit, the chairman held a meeting with members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Party Membership E-registration agents, led by Comrade Gbenga Ayemobuwa. He praised the team for their dedication and assured them of the Commission’s support towards their welfare to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Accompanying the chairman were Rev. Dr. Ola Judah, a member of the OSOPADEC Board; Hon. Mrs. Toyin Agbeni-Ogungbure, former Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Council; Pst. Keneth; Ap. ’Sola Orisamoluwa, Director of Administration and Supplies; Engr. Dare Oretan, Area Office Manager; aides to the chairman; as well as other senior management staff of the Commission.
