Three women suspected to be involved in the sale of illicit drugs have been arrested by operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) in Afiesere community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspects, identified as Doris Okoroko, 55; Gladys Otah, 46; and Anita Samuel, 23, were apprehended during a sting operation carried out on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, following credible intelligence received by the police.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, disclosed the development during a press briefing in Asaba, the state capital.
“On 30/07/2025 at about 1530hrs, operatives of CP-Special Assignment Team, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected drug hideout at Afiesere town in Ughelli North LGA,” CP Abaniwonda stated.
According to him, a thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of large quantities of various illicit substances, including Tramadol, Codeine, Swinol, and Cannabis.
He noted that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the command to clamp down on drug trafficking and related criminal activities across the state.
The Commissioner assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, adding that the police remain committed to eradicating drug abuse and its harmful consequences in Delta communities.
