The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has raised concerns regarding the prolonged absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

This was revealed in a statement signed on Friday by the Ondo State PDP publicity secretary, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei.

Akeredolu is yet to be found eight days since he said he has resumed duties as Governor after his three months medical leave in Germany.

During his absence, Governor Akeredolu reportedly signed the creation of 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) into law and made decisions, such as the dismissal of media aides to Deputy Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, all while maintaining a low profile.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State Chapter, challenged the Governor’s decision to hold meetings in his Ibadan residence, rather than in Ondo State, where he was elected to govern.

The Governor’s absence has fueled speculations that he may have returned to Nigeria prematurely, possibly to thwart an impeachment process.

Governor Akeredolu’s order for the upgrade of his Ibadan residence, including the addition of an Executive Council Chambers replica, has further raised eyebrows and led to questions regarding his commitment to his duties as the Governor of Ondo State.

The PDP advised Akeredolu to return to Ondo State to complete his tenure.

Alternatively, if his health does not permit, he should consider another medical leave instead of creating confusion and uncertainty among the people of Ondo State.

“Our party wishes to advise Akeredolu to come to Ondo State to complete his tenure. But if he does not feel fit enough to resume, he can proceed on another medical leave instead of trying to pull wool over our eyes in Ondo State”, the statement read.
