Oba Rasheed Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, has opposed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s approval of a Judicial Panel Report on the Aragbiji Chieftaincy, warning that it could create tension in the town.
Speaking at his palace on Friday, the monarch expressed concern that the decision was politically driven and could disrupt peace in Iragbiji.
He stated that the declaration was not recognized by the Aragbiji and the four ruling houses—Ajibode, Osungbemi, Arowodoye, and Ogunmolu.
Oba Olabomi recalled that the only Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the chieftaincy issue had submitted its report years ago, and the Osun State Government had already made its position clear through an official letter and a gazette in 2013.
He noted that no new panel was formed until Adeleke approved a fresh declaration, which he described as unfamiliar to the community.
He urged Adeleke to withdraw the approval, arguing that the report had been discarded by the government 12 years ago.
The monarch called on Nigerians to intervene and prevent any unrest in Iragbiji.
