Osinbajo Still in APC, Actively Engaged in Politics – Laolu Akande

By: Bayero Ade

Laolu Akande, the former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has dismissed speculations that Osinbajo has quit the All Progressives Congress (APC) or distanced himself from political activities.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, Akande refuted claims that the former Vice President had abandoned the APC or stepped back from politics.

Osinbajo’s relatively low public profile since leaving office in 2023 has fuelled conjecture about his political future. The former Vice President had vied for the APC presidential ticket in 2022 but lost to President Bola Tinubu.

However, Akande affirmed Osinbajo’s continued allegiance to the APC, noting that he would participate in party activities whenever invited.

“To the best of my knowledge, there is no reason to believe he has left the APC. He is still a party member and would attend any caucus or other meetings requiring his presence,” Akande said.

Although Osinbajo has recently taken on a global advisory role with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), he has not disclosed any plans regarding his future political ambitions.
