Opposition berates Adeleke over new Osun logo

The Osun state chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement has described the move by the government to unveil a new logo as a waste of taxpayers’ money.

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, signed a bill adopting a new logo for the state.

The governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement on Wednesday, said Adeleke signed the bill at a ceremony witnessed by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun.

The Osun State House of Assembly had in July 2023 repealed the state Anthem, Crest and Flag Law 2012 and replaced it with a new law which enabled the executive to come up with a new logo for the state.

Adeleke, speaking after assenting to the bill, said signing the new logo into law was a signal of the rebirth of Osun State, adding that the new state symbol was significant as it aligned with its history, anthem, values and tradition of the state.

“The new logo is also an educational resource material for our younger generation as it contains symbols of our landmarks, strengths, resources and history. The logo is also a tool to market the state at home and abroad.

“It is my honour and privilege to introduce the new logo as the symbol of our state. This announcement will herald a new life of prosperity, abundance and sustainability for our people and admirers,” Adeleke said.
