One injured as fire razes over N10m palm kernel factory in Ondo

 

One person was injured on Monday following the inferno that engulfed a palm kernel factory worth over N10m in Ondo State.

The palm kernel factory situated at the Industrial Park in Onyearugbulem junction, Akure, the state capital was said to have been razed by fire following a spark from the change-over box within the factory.

The raging fire destroyed all the raw materials and burnt the machines used for processing before the arrival of firefighters.

According to an eyewitness, one of the workers, whose name was yet to be ascertained was injured in the inferno and had been taken to a private hospital.

The owner of the factory, Mr. Adeniyi Adesunloye, while lamenting that all his labour of 10 years had gone to ruins, disclosed that he was alerted of the incident in the afternoon.

“We just got here this afternoon shortly after we had a spark from the exchange box and the next thing everywhere was on fire.”

Adesunloye added that machines, as well as a heavy duty power generating set, were all lost to the inferno including several raw materials for processing palm kernel in the factory.

Meanwhile, before the arrival of the men of the Federal Fire Service, the factory had already been totally razed.
