Ondo yet to record Cholera outbreak

No cholera outbreak has been recorded in Ondo State since disease broke out in other parts of the country recently.

Two cases were recorded in in January this year at Okitipupa local government area but they were successfully curtailed.

On Wednesday, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka, said a surveillance network to respond against any outbreak of cholera has been activated across the state.

Dr. Ajaka stated that the state has strengthened the Rapid Response Team including the PHC coordinators, lab focal persons, Disease Survellance officers across the state.

According to him: “The surveillance team was also strengthened by the COPREP program with community informants as well as contact tracers trained and placed on stipends for eight months.”

He did not pick to answer any enquiries if any outbreak has been reported between Wednesday and as of the time of filing this report.
