Ondo: TESCOM gives update, speaks on extortion

The Ondo State Teaching Service Commission has issued a warning regarding individuals engaging in fraudulent activities by extorting money from job seekers under the guise of providing teaching employment in government schools.

Despite receiving 32,000 applications for the available one thousand teaching positions, the commission conducted an online examination for all applicants vying for appointments in public secondary schools within the state.

Goodluck Akinyomi, Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit of the State Teaching Service Commission, denounced the actions of certain miscreants and impostors posing as representatives of the commission, who are soliciting money and compiling personal information from applicants who have completed the online recruitment examination.

Akinyomi in a statement said “It has to be noted and understood that Ondo State Teaching Service Commission does not and will not engage anyone, group of people, Agents or third parties, as so called, to act on its behalf while carrying out its statutory duties.

“The Commission wishes to reemphasise that recruitment of teachers into the Teaching Service of Ondo State will be purely based on merit devoid of any influence, corruption or nepotism as the Commission is not going to compromise its integrity.

“So, any applicant who falls into the deception does so at his or her own risk as the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission will not and never employ any applicant through the backdoor.”
