Ondo Govt Allocates N1 Billion for Gratuity Arrears of LG Workers, Teacher Retirees

The Ondo State Government has announced the release of N1 billion for the payment of gratuity arrears owed to local government workers and primary school teachers who retired in 2012.

Alhaji Amidu Takuro, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, shared this information with newsmen in Akure on Saturday.

Takuro stated that this move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address the backlog of gratuity payments for retired local government employees and primary school teachers.

“The second batch of payments will commence on Tuesday,” Takuro said. “Being a government sensitive to the plight of the people, the Aiyedatiwa-led administration has decided to pay the gratuities of retirees in full rather than in installments.”

He noted that the first tranche of bulk gratuity payments was made late last year by the immediate past governor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. “In continuation of this good work, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has decided not only to maintain this practice but to make it a quarterly initiative.”

Gov. Aiyedatiwa has been diligent in fulfilling his responsibilities regarding the payment of pensions, salaries, and other entitlements, the commissioner added.

Takuro urged retirees and current civil servants to support the Aiyedatiwa administration, assuring them of better days ahead.

Thank you very much sir for this good step taken at a right time. God bless you plenty. I wish you do more to cover year 2013 and 2014 who clock 10 years after retirement. God will strengthen you to help these two groups among Primary School retired Teachers. We will be grateful to you for the kind gesture if considered. Thank you, God bless.
