The Ondo State House of Assembly said it will not jettison its move to impeach the embattled deputy governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, despite his public apology to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
According to the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, the apology by Aiyedatiwa is a personal issue between him and his boss and does not concern the assembly.
Oladiji, who avowed that the House of Assembly would continue with the impeachment, stressed that all the lawmakers are on the same page on the process.
Also, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, stated that the 26 lawmakers are united in their decision to probe and impeach the deputy governor.
Ogunmolasuyi said: “The House is in order, though some people are trying to play politics to divide us. It is not possible; we are together. The House is not divided.”
Aiyedatiwa had last week apologised to Akeredolu over the political chaos that had rocked the state.
Responding, Akeredolu, who spoke through his senior special assistant on special duties, Doyin Odebowale, lashed out at Aiyedatiwa, stating that he should face the allegations levelled against him by the State Ondo House of Assembly instead of making an apology.
