Ahead of Ondo State Governorship election in October this year, scores of leaders in Ilaje Local Government Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Ondo State from all the 12 wards, came together on Thursday, to rally support for Hon. Banji Okunomo, as their preferred governorship aspirant ahead of the PDP’s primary election.
The PDP stakeholders gathered under the umbrella of Concerned Ilaje PDP leaders at Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government in Ondo State.
The group set up a 13- man committee led by High Chief T.A.B Obele, the Lema of Ugbo kingdom as the Chairman, with Hon. Wale Ayejuni, a former Commissioner of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) as the Secretary.
Starnews NG reports that they are to mobilise support for the Governorship ambition of Okunomo and lobby other Stakeholders including governorship aspirants from the area to back him as sole Aspirant in the interest of Ilaje nation.
It will be recalled that the Oil- rich Ilaje Nationality has not produced a Governor since the creation of the State.
Other members of the Committee are: High Chief Daisi Mafimisebi, The Oligha of Ugbo Kingdom and a former PDP Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Chief Adesina Erejuwa,a former Vice-chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Princess Stella Nana, former Special Assistant to the Governor , Hon. Femi Akinlo, Immediate past leader of Ilaje local government Council.
The committee members also include: Hon. Afolabi Olatunji, former Deputy Chairman of PDP in Ilaje, Hon. Segun Meduoye, Former Supervisory Councillor, Barrister Ebini Felix , former Secretary to the Local government, Hon. Duro Olatuyi, Former Supervisory Councillor, Hon. Felix Motoro, former Adviser to the Council, Hon. Edawole Esau, and Mr Ola Omosele, leaders of the PDP in Ilaje respectively.
