Okowa Denies Returning ₦500 Billion to Delta Government

Ifeanyi Okowa, the former Governor of Delta State, has dismissed reports that he secretly returned ₦500 billion to the state government as part of an arrangement to avoid prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The claims surfaced online, suggesting that Okowa had quietly refunded the amount to regain political influence and evade legal action.

Okowa’s Chief Press Secretary, Olise Ifeajirika, addressed the rumors in an interview, clarifying that the investigation by the EFCC is still ongoing.

He stated that the EFCC had not concluded its inquiry, and no such refund had occurred.

The investigation, which includes questioning individuals in Delta State, is still in progress, and any action, such as requesting a refund, can only happen after the investigation reaches its conclusion.
