In an effort to promote a transparent and successful electoral process, the NYSC Director General, Brig. General Y.D Ahmed, has urged corps members to uphold electoral rules and safety during the November 11th Kogi Governorship Election, adding that this is the time for every Nigerian to do the right thing and stand for truth for better Governance.

Brig. Ahmed represented by Mrs Binta Hassan, Assistant Director Merits,NYSC/NDHQ stated this while addressing Corps Members with a series of valuable instructions during the INEC briefing/ sensitization held at the NYSC Kogi Secretariat on Thursday, November 9th, 2022.

The DG emphasized the importance of adherence to election rules and regulations, viewing Corps Members as vital contributors to the electoral process in the Country.

Among the key guidelines provided, the DG highlighted the significance of teamwork, urging Corps Members to work collaboratively while being fully equipped with their NYSC uniform and electoral tags.

Brig. General Ahmed emphasized the need for Corps Members to exercise their duties in alignment with the electoral act as adhoc staff during the elections. Recognizing the crucial role of communication,he advised Corps Members to ensure their mobile phones are fully charged and ensure they have call cards. He also encouraged them to bring along sufficient snacks and personal necessities to RAC/ Polling Units.

The NYSC Boss reiterated the importance of Corps Members reaching out to the NYSC help Desk in cases of emergency. This support system aims to provide immediate assistance and guidance when needed.

Supporting the DG’s message, Mrs. Nwadinobi C.C, Assistant Director Of Servicom in Kogi, advised Corps Members to exercise extra caution and vigilance while carrying out their election duties, reminding them that their loved ones eagerly anticipate their safe return home.

Also speaking, the Head of DSS in Lokoja offered his prayers for the safety of Corps Members during the election period. He urged them to remain security conscious and to prioritize their personal safety at all times.

However, the Lokoja Zonal Inspector, Mr. Etsu Muazu Idris stressed the importance of Corps Members familiarizing themselves with their Polling Unit locations before leaving the RAC Centre. He urged them to be meticulous and careful when filling the Form EC8A.

Additionally, Mr. Ohinoyi Ezekiel, the Lokoja Local Government Inspector, reinforced the necessity for Corps Members to strictly adhere to all electoral guidelines. He emphasized punctuality in securing their election materials and encouraged them to maintain constant communication with NYSC Officials and INEC in the event of any difficulties encountered at their respective Polling Unit. Mr. Ezekiel extended his prayers for the safety of Corps Members during the election.

Present at the event was the NYSC Kogi State Coordinator, Pst.(Mrs) Mofulowaso Adebimpe Williams, represented by Assistant Director Corps Discipline and Reward, Mr. Musah Kingsley, the LGI Kogi LGA, Mr. Rufai Shittu, the LGI Ajaokuta LGA, Mr. Ugwu Collins Chijioke, among other NYSC Staff.
