NYSC Announces Relocation of Orientation Camp 

In response to the wave of violence gripping Plateau State, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has taken a decisive step to relocate the camp.

The move comes as a result of the distressing frequency of killings that have plagued the region, leaving the NYSC with no choice but to seek an alternative location for the orientation camp.

According to an official statement issued by the NYSC, the new venue for the camp has been shifted to Waye Foundation, located in Doi-Du within the Jos South Local Government Area.

Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for NYSC, emphasized the importance of complying with the new directive.

Megwa stated, “We hereby inform the general public, particularly our esteemed Prospective Corps Members, that the location of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Camp for Plateau State has been changed from the Permanent Orientation Camp in Mangu to Waye Foundation, by Buken Academy Doi-Du (Temporary NYSC Orientation Camp) in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.”

“All prospective Corps Members are urged to report to the new Orientation Camp (Waye Foundation by Buken Academy) on the specified dates as indicated in their call-up letters,” Megwa added.

The decision to relocate the camp was prompted by the escalating violence between local communities and armed militias, with inadequate intervention from security agencies.

Recall that, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) reported a devastating attack in Mangu Local Government Area, resulting in the loss of 15 lives.

Moreover, MACBAN claimed that 78 houses belonging to its members were set ablaze, while over 2,000 cattle remain missing.
