President Bola Tinubu has appointed Sylvester Nwakuche as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

This decision follows the retirement of Haliru Nababa, who reached the mandatory age for service. Nwakuche, previously responsible for training and staff development as Deputy Controller-General, is set to assume his new position on December 15, 2024.

Nababa concluded his tenure with a ceremonial Pulling-Out Parade in Abuja, reflecting on a career that began in 1990 and culminated in his appointment as Controller-General in 2021.

He highlighted advancements in security, logistics, staff welfare, and inmate rehabilitation during his leadership, attributing successes to collaboration with his team and stakeholders.
