NPFL: Gov Wike Rains Dollars On Rivers United, To Travel To Spain For Pre-season

 

It was all smiles for the players and technical crew of the newly crowned Nigeria Professional League champions, Rivers United as they got cash reward and award from the state governor, Starnews.com.ng report.

 

The Pride of Rivers emerged the winners of the 2021/2022 Nigeria professional football league season after they garnered 77 points in 38 games.

 

They were hosted by the governor of the state Nyesom Wike on Thursday and they were well rewarded for their amazing performance.

 

Each player in the team $20,000 for their performance in the league and will travel to Madrid in Spain for pre-season training.

 

The governor also promised that the cash reward will be doubled if they qualify from the group stage of the Champions League.

 

To cap it all, each player also gets Governor’s Medal Service award.

 

This is the first time Rivers United win league title since the summation of Dolphins FC and Sharks FC.

 

The club alongside Plateau United will represent Nigeria in the 2022/2023 CAF champions league season.
