Northern Groups kick against tax reforms

By Miracle Ogunde

The Tax Reform Bills currently under consideration by the National Assembly, has been vehemently rejected by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG).

The group, however, drummed support for Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed in his opposition to proposed bills.

According to Daily Post, the leader of the coalition, Comrade Aliyu Charanchi, said that the governor’s concerns resonate with many northerners who feel disproportionately impacted by the economic policies of the current administration.

The coalition also condemned what it termed as threats from the presidency against Governor Mohammed, describing them as “unjust and dismissive.”

They urged President Bola Tinubu to focus on addressing the nation’s pressing economic and security issues instead of engaging in personal attacks.

“The governor’s comments were made with sincere intent within the bounds of democratic discourse, highlighting the genuine concerns of his constituents,” Charanchi remarked.

Reacting to the support, Governor Mohammed expressed his appreciation and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the interests of his people.

“My administration is steadfast in its commitment to tackling the challenges faced by Bauchi State and the Northern region as a whole,” he said.
