Nigerian politician loses wife

The deputy governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, has lost his wife, Hajiya Zainab.

Mrs Zainab died on Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024.

The personal assistant to the deputy governor, Salis Sabo, confirmed the death in a post on his Facebook page.

“Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihi raji’un!!! We just lost the wife of our principal, His Excellency the deputy governor of Niger State. May Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdausi”, he wrote.

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has expressed sadness over the death of Hajiya Zainab Garba.

Bago, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the death of the wife of his Deputy as a great loss to the State.

He said it was indeed devastating news and a trying moment not only for his Deputy but the government and the entire people of the State.

The Governor, while commiserating with his Deputy over the loss, encouraged him to see the demise of his wife as an act of Allah, and be consoled by the fact that the deceased lived a good life.

He said the State Executive Council share in his loss and will provide every needed support at this moment of grief.

The farmer Governor then prayed to Allah to forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased and grant her Aljanna Firdausi.

He also prayed that Allah would comfort his Deputy and all Nigerlites.
