As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security, the Nigerian Army has concluded the training of 604 Special Forces operatives under its flagship initiative, Exercise Restore Hope.
The six-month advanced training programme, which took place at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna State, was designed to equip troops with both combat and strategic skills required to address modern security threats across the country.
At the graduation ceremony on Tuesday, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, praised the personnel for their resilience and professionalism during the rigorous training.
Represented by Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Oluyede noted that the soldiers received specialised instruction in weapon handling, precision engagement, and tactical coordination.
He explained that the trainees were selected from various Army units and would soon be deployed to key operational zones to reinforce existing military efforts.
“The performance of these troops during the training clearly reflects their readiness to face evolving security challenges,” Oluyede said, highlighting their ability to operate in high-pressure environments and execute coordinated attacks with precision.
He described Exercise Restore Hope as a structured, biannual programme integrated into the Army’s operational schedule, designed to build elite combat units with enhanced mission readiness.
According to him, the training goes beyond the standard curriculum for regular soldiers, offering advanced combat tactics tailored for specialised assignments in conflict-prone areas.
He added that the newly trained personnel would bolster the capabilities of ongoing military operations, particularly in areas grappling with insurgency, kidnapping, and other forms of armed conflict.
“This initiative is crucial for improving our operational effectiveness and sustaining national security,” he stated.
