Nigeria qualifies for the semi-final of women’s afrobasket, Cameroon 2021

Nigeria has qualified for the semi-final of the Women’s Afrobasket, Cameroon 2021.

D’tigress defeated their Cote D’Ivoire counterparts 72-56 in the first quarter-final on Thursday in Yaounde.

They did the job in the first half, opening a 16 point lead in the first quarter, with a score of 24 – 8, and played 19 -13 in the second quarter, to go into the interval with a 22 points lead.

The second half was more competitive, as Nigeria took the third quarter 16-14, while Cote D’Ivoire won the last quarter 21-13, with the match ending 72-56 in favour of Nigeria.

D’tigress Coach, Otis Hugely, was critical of the officiating.

He warned that if not checked, what transpired in the last quarter of Nigeria vs Cote D’Ivoire match, will discourage the best players from honouring invitations for the Afrobasket, to save their careers.

Nigeria will face the winner between Senegal and Mozambique in tomorrow’s semi-final.
