A non-governmental organisation, Stand Against Female Marginalisation and Abuse has revealed its intention to educate over 3000 females against female genital mutilation and the fight against cervical cancer.
The Managing Director, and convener of SAFEMA, Ola Ajibola, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the second edition of the Miss Enterprise Africa business pageant.
He further stated that the girl child when properly educated could yield a lot of benefits that can lead to long-lasting national development.
He said, “The MEA business pageant is a female-centric project that would empower, educate women against female genital mutilation, create awareness on the fight against cervical cancer and equip young females of all classes, tribes and religions who would be mentored into business experts.”
“This initiative has been able to reach out to over 3000 females from all ages across Nigeria in secondary schools, markets, religious centres and other female interest groups and this is just the beginning.”
We intend to employ industries’ best professionals in start-up and entrepreneurship, as well as business development, to coach, and mentor these females in branding, marketing, sales, etiquette, human management, finance, investment and other activities.
Whoever will emerge winner at the grand finale come 11th December, 2022 will be awarded N1 million to set up a proposed business and would also get an international trip”
Speaking with our correspondent, the project manager, SAFEMA, Oluwapelumi Adesina revealed that SAFEMA had organized MEA as an initiative to inspire smart and hardworking young girls between the ages 19 to 35 who are ambitious, passionate and have a start-up or business ideas that are scalable.
She said, “MEA is a contest for young, beautiful, culture-oriented and business smart females who are seeking legitimate means to success without compromising morals.”
