The Nigeria Football Federation is in shock and mourning following the unfortunate passing of Mr. Sunday Ndidi, the father of Wilfred Ndidi, captain of the Super Eagles, the national men’s football team, who died in a car accident.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, remarked, “This is truly heartbreaking. The player recently gave his all for the nation at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, where we won bronze medals.
He had returned to Turkey filled with motivation and high hopes of helping his club succeed this season, as well as assisting the Super Eagles in achieving new milestones this year.
“We are deeply shocked and find it difficult to articulate our feelings, but we sincerely pray for the soul of Mr. Sunday Ndidi and ask for God’s comfort for our team captain, his siblings, relatives, and all those he has left behind.”
The Nigerian Football Federation announced that Mr. Sunday Ndidi sadly passed away after being struck by a vehicle in Umunede, close to Agbor in Delta State.
This heartbreaking news from the football federation comes as the nation continues to celebrate its third-place finish in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations Championship.
