Some Netizens have defended the visit of the leader of the Yoruba Socio-Political Organization, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti to President Bola Tinubu at the State House on Wednesday in Abuja.

Earlier today, a photo circulated online showing Pa. Fasoranti and another Yoruba Elder stateman in a private jet flying to Abuja.

Some Nigerians were of the opinions that the Afenifere leaders were heading to Abuja to meet with President Tinubu in order to seek an endorsement of one of the governorship aspirants under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial election.

Debunking the claim, some Netizens expressed different opinions, stating that the Yoruba leaders were on a different mission to the President, particularly to table demands of the people in the Southwest geopolitical zone of the country.

Akinlo Samuel Seun wrote; “This is not desperation but ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, Don’t you pay homage to your Formal Boss.”

Samuel Adebowake opined that, “This is good for the old men, put yourself in there shoe, forget what could have brought about this package, political favoritism or not, it’s good to make our first class citizens happy most at times and believe me, their prayer goes along way.”

Starnews NG gathered that in the meeting held with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Afenifere delegation led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the group tabled six major demands for the good people of the South West region before the president.

Fasoranti, in his address during the courtesy visit, commended President Tinubu for his efforts at changing the narratives about the country, stating that the organization acknowledged his commitment to the progress and development of the country.

He, however, urged the president to consider the expeditious implementation of the demands of the organization, including the restructuring of the country, construction of major roads especially in the South West, among other demands.

Responding, President Tinubu acknowledged the security challenges bedeviling the nation, insisting that the security forces are winning the age-long war against insurgency and other security threats.

Tinubu, also stated that his administration is poised towards providing access to higher education to Nigerian youths through the provision of the students loan which will kick off soon.

He further emphasized the determination of his administration towards providing employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths, and the provision of living wages to those participating in the National youths service Corps, NYSC.

Likewise he reiterated his resolve to address corruption in the country, adding that credit facilities will be provided to business owners in the country.
