He: “I saw charms in her wardrobe while she has incisions on her waist. She starves me of sex but satisfies her lovers, including my friend on regularly basis.”

She: “He joined a cult and succeeded in ruining me. I ran into debt any time he slept with me which caused my fortune to dwindle. I am presently neck deep in debt.”

These were part of the testimonies given by a couple, Musibau Oladele and Sherifat Oladele at Oja Oba/ Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State recently.

Musibau had approached the court, seeking that it dissolved the union between him and his wife, Sherifat Oladele.

Musibau alleged that his wife was unfaithful to him.

According to him, Sherifat constantly denied him sex, but satisfies her lovers, among whom is his friend, on regular basis.

The plaintiff stated that the defendant accused him of using her star to create wealth any time they had sex.

Musibau stated that his life was not safe with a woman who was morally bankrupt.

He thus appealed to the court to stop their relationship and grant him custody of their children so that her ways would not rub off on them.

Sherifat agreed that their union be dissolved.

The defendant explained that her husband was irresponsible. She added that he was a womaniser.

Sherifat stated that her husband passed the responsibility of running the home to her and that he succeeded in ruining her because she was always running into debt

According to the defendant, she was the one paying the rent and looking after their children’s welfare out of her meager income.

Sherifat denied sleeping with her husband’s friend. She told the court all Musibau said was aimed at giving her a bad name.

The defendant pleaded for the custody of their children as against her husband’s wish and further prayed that it made him responsible for their welfare.

“My lord, I have had enough of Sherifat’s atrocities. I can tolerate her no more. I pray that you separate us, “Musibau pleaded.

“My wife has consistently denied me my conjugal right.

Sherifat starves me of sex.

“Any time I demand for sex she will refuse me. According to her, I use her star to make wealth any time we had intercourse.

“My lord, Sherifat is promiscuous and unfaithful to me. She leaves me to burn, but makes herself available to her lovers who she has rounds of sex with.

“My wife has no shame. Of late, I discovered to my chagrin and disappointment that my friend has been enrolled on her list.

“Sherifat has no regard for me and not bothered about the welfare of our children in particular.

“She leaves home and returns at will. Many times she returns home late when the children are already in bed. She cares less if they ate or not before going to bed and is oblivious of their activities during the day.

“My lord, my wife is a liar. There were times she left home late on the pretext that she was going to church for vigil but ended up in her lover’s house.

“The last time she did, she left home around 9:00 pm and I waited patiently for more than an hour and then went to her church to check if truly she was there.

“To my surprise, I met the gate of the church locked and the premises quiet and dark.

“I challenged her when she returned the following morning but as usual, she told another lie to cover up,” he stated.

He went on: “My lord, Sherifat is not only promiscuous but also diabolic.

“I was searching for an item in our room and decided to check her wardrobe. My hand hit an object. Curious, I pulled the object out and I shivered at what I saw. It was a collection of charms kept by my wife.

“I again discovered when she was dressing up that she now has incisions round her waist.

“My lord, a woman who is promiscuous and diabolic like Sherifat will obviously send one to an early grave.

“I earnestly pray that an end be brought to our marriage and our children handed over to me for adequate care. This is necessary so that her ways do not rub off on them, he said.
