My Govt won’t pay ransom to secure release of kidnapped students’ – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has ruled out payment of any ransom to kidnappers.

 

Addressing a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa Abuja, Tinubu vowed to rescue all the children and other victims kidnapped by terrorists in Kaduna and Sokoto states without any payment of ransom.

 

The President reiterated his directive to the defence ministry to ensure that the children are rescued and returned safely to their homes.

 

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris, conveyed the decision of the president while briefing reporters at the end of the meeting on Wednesday.

 

Idris quoted the president as having maintained his stance against the payment of ransom to kidnappers to free the children.

 

According to the minister, the President stated the resolve of his administration to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the country, saying kidnapping, especially mass abduction will not be tolerated under the current government.

 

Starnews NG reported that some terrorists stormed LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1) on Thursday, March 7, and kidnapped scores of pupils and teachers, with the number of the abducted students confirmed to be 15.
