Mohbad’s wife accuses father-in-law of meeting with Naira Marley, bailing out suspects

Omowumi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, has been in contact with Naira Marley and has ties to individuals arrested in connection with her husband’s death.

Speaking on Arise TV alongside her lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, Omowumi claimed that Aloba played a role in securing bail for some of the suspects taken into custody following Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023.

“His father has been visiting Naira Marley,” Akingbolu stated, referring to the record label boss who was previously accused of assaulting Mohbad on multiple occasions. “Even some of the people arrested over Mohbad’s death were bailed out by him.”

Omowumi further alleged that Aloba maintained a close relationship with Odumosu, the legal representative of the suspects, who she claimed had been coaching them on what to say.

She identified key suspects, including Ayobami Sadiq, who had an altercation with Mohbad at a show before his death, a friend who contacted the nurse that treated him, and Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who administered the injection that allegedly triggered the fatal reaction.

“His friend was the one who gave us the nurse’s number. Mohbad was fine until he received the third injection, after which he started reacting,” she explained.

She also condemned the nurse’s actions, questioning whether her negligence was accidental or deliberate.

“The nurse who administered the injection has remained silent despite all the bullying I’ve faced. Meanwhile, she has been partying and living her life as if nothing happened,” Omowumi said.

Last Wednesday, the court ruled that charges against Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Owodunni “Primeboy” Ibrahim, and Mohbad’s manager, Babatunde Opere, should be dropped due to a lack of sufficient evidence linking them to the singer’s death.

However, the court ordered that the nurse and Sadiq be prosecuted for alleged recklessness and negligence leading to Mohbad’s death.
