The Lagos State Government has announced changes to traffic routes in preparation for the ECOWAS Summit taking place from May 27 to 29.
The event will be held at the NIIA House and Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, and the government is putting plans in place to keep traffic under control and maintain order in the area.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Transportation explained that the diversions are meant to keep movement steady and ensure safety around key venues.
Drivers heading from Eko Hotel Roundabout to either the Island or Mainland have been advised to take Adetokunbo Ademola Road, continue to the Civic Centre, and then follow Ozumba Mbadiwe Road.
From there, they can go straight to Bonny Camp Roundabout, where a right turn will lead them to either Lagos Island or the Mainland.
Another route option is the Falomo Ramp close to the Law School, which connects to major areas of the city.
Motorists coming from Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola can drive through Sanusi Fafunwa Street, link Akin Adesola Road, and turn left at the junction to reach Ahmadu Bello Way or Adeola Odeku.
Turning right at the same spot leads to Falomo Bridge or the Law School route.
Those leaving Lagos Continental Hotel in the direction of Bonny Camp should go through Kofo Abayomi Road, which connects to Kilimanjaro Junction on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road.
From there, they can turn left to reach Bonny Camp or turn right toward Lekki.
Drivers approaching from Bonny Camp should also follow Ozumba Mbadiwe Road and turn at Kilimanjaro Junction to access Lagos Continental Hotel.
Visitors coming from Independence or McEwen Bridge to the Eko Hotel area are to turn left at the IMB Building on Ahmadu Bello Way by Atlantic City, then link Akin Adesola Road and continue through nearby streets to reach the hotel.
Traffic officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be stationed along the affected roads to help direct vehicles and reduce delays throughout the summit period.
