Kwara govt revokes 2024 billboard licences

The Kwara State Government has officially revoked all 2024 signage and billboard licences across the state with immediate effect.

This was announced in a statement on Sunday by Ibrahim Garba, Secretary of the Task Force Committee on Illegal Billboards and Signage, who noted that the decision follows a prior suspension of billboard licences.

Garba stated that the identification of billboards is currently in progress, while enforcement to remove unauthorized and improperly placed structures will begin on March 17.

He explained that the revocation is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s urban renewal agenda, which aims to enhance the state’s visual appeal and promote orderly development.

During this period, no new registrations or renewals for billboard licences will be processed as the government works on a revised regulatory framework for outdoor advertising.

Garba urged billboard owners to take down any unapproved structures immediately, warning that the task force is already identifying non-compliant billboards and will commence enforcement next week.
