Kogi police arrest suspect over stolen bus

The Kogi State Police Command has detained a 39-year-old man, Nnamdi Osita, in connection with the theft of a Toyota Coaster bus.

According to NAN, the bus, with Abuja registration number GWA 488 ZD, was reported stolen over a year ago in Nyanya, Abuja. It has now been recovered from the suspect.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Lokoja, the command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, revealed that the arrest was made on Wednesday, January 23, following actionable intelligence.

According to Ovye-Aya, the recently appointed Commissioner of Police in the state, Miller Dantawaye, explained that the stolen bus was spotted on the Abuja-Lokoja highway. Police operatives from the ‘B’ Division Lokoja, working alongside other security agencies, intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the suspect at about 4:45 p.m.

“The matter is currently under investigation,” Ovye-Aya added.

Commissioner Dantawaye assured residents that the police remain committed to maintaining the safety of lives and property across the state. He also urged citizens to support law enforcement efforts by sharing credible and timely information regarding criminal activities.
