The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the request of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), for bail or to be moved from the Department of State Services (DSS) custody to a prison or house arrest.
Justice Binta Nyako ruled that Kanu had previously jumped bail, leading to the discharge of his sureties, who were unable to locate him.
Justice Nyako stated that Kanu’s only remaining legal recourse is to appeal the decision.
She also clarified that contrary to claims by Kanu’s counsel, the Supreme Court did not rule that his previous bail should not have been revoked.
