Kaduna Governor Reinstates Dethroned Piriga Chief After Court Judgment

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has reinstated the Paramount Chief of Piriga Chiefdom, Jonathan Zamuna, following a court ruling that declared his removal unlawful.

The reinstatement, which took place during a ceremony at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna, comes after the National Industrial Court ruled on June 14, 2024, that Zamuna’s deposition by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai on May 22, 2023, was unconstitutional.

The court ordered the government to restore his position and pay all his entitlements within 30 days.

Governor Sani, during the ceremony, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice and respect for the rule of law.

He called on Chief Zamuna to lead with fairness and ensure unity in the chiefdom.

“This moment gives us an opportunity to reflect on past actions and their impact on our state,” the governor said, urging the traditional ruler to serve the community with dedication and compassion, Naija News reports.

Chief Zamuna expressed his gratitude, praising Governor Sani for promoting fairness and stability in the state.

He described the governor’s leadership as a blessing to Kaduna and promised to fulfill his duties diligently.
