Kaduna Counter-Terrorism Village Named After Late Army Chief Lagbaja

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, on Wednesday inaugurated a Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Village at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.

The facility was named in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, to support cadets in preparing for modern security challenges.

The village provides a realistic environment where cadets can practice field operations.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede described the late Lagbaja as a dedicated officer who served Nigeria with distinction.

In addition to the training village, Oluyede launched several other projects, including an auditorium, living quarters for junior personnel, and a residence for the Commanding Officer of the 37 NDA Demonstration Battalion.

The COAS also laid the foundation for a 500-capacity cadet mess, classrooms, an administrative block, and a girls’ hostel at the NDA Boarding Secondary School.

The Commandant of the NDA, Maj.-Gen. John Ochai, reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to producing skilled and disciplined officers.

The event included combat demonstrations by cadets and a simulation exercise showcasing how the new facilities will enhance training.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede also toured ongoing projects at the academy to assess their progress and alignment with its goals of excellence in military education.
