Olusegun Awolowo, the grandson of the late Nigerian statesman Chief Obafemi Awolowo, has passed away at the age of 62.
A distinguished lawyer, Olusegun served two consecutive terms as Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council. He was the son of Chief Awolowo’s first son.
The Awolowo family announced his death in a statement, describing him as “a phenomenal husband, father, and grandfather steady, wise, endlessly loving, and the unwavering anchor of our family.”
The statement added that Olusegun Awolowo was “a devoted servant to Nigeria, dedicating his life to the service of his country with vision, integrity, passion, and steadfast commitment.
He was a true family man, a loyal friend, a devoted servant of God, and a deeply remarkable human being.”
According to the family, Olusegun Awolowo lived every day with purpose, humility, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew him.
“We are heartbroken by this loss, but eternally grateful for his life, his legacy, and the love he poured into all of us. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement said.
Olusegun Awolowo’s death marks the passing of a prominent figure in both the legal and public service sectors, remembered for his dedication to family, faith, and country.
