JUST IN: Police shoot one, arrest two-man gang in Ibadan sting operation

Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday tracked down a two-man armed robbery gang to the Oke-Ado area of Ibadan, the state capital.

According to reports, the suspects, who had allegedly been terrorising residents and targeting bank customers in the city, engaged the police in a gun battle that lasted several minutes.

During the exchange, one of the suspects was shot and subdued, while the other was arrested alive. Security operatives said the gang had been on their radar following a series of reported attacks in different parts of Ibadan.

An eyewitness disclosed that the sting operation caused panic in the area as residents scampered for safety while the gun duel raged.

The police have since cordoned off the scene, while the injured suspect was taken into custody for medical attention before interrogation.

Authorities assured that further details, including the identities of the suspects and items recovered from them, would be made available to the public soon.
