JUST IN: Osun Senator Resigns from PDP

Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fadahunsi, a two-term senator and influential political figure in Ijesa land, tendered his resignation in a letter dated July 12, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Citing unresolved internal crises within the PDP at the national level, Fadahunsi attributed his decision to what he described as “irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles” that have plagued the party since the conclusion of the 2023 general elections.

The resignation letter reads in part:

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.

This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”

Fadahunsi was a staunch ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke and has been instrumental in the PDP’s political strength in Osun East. His resignation comes amid growing concerns over internal party wrangling and uncertainty surrounding the PDP’s leadership structure at the national level.

As of press time, the senator has not announced his next political move or whether he will be joining another political party.
