60-Year-Old Man Remanded for Allegedly Raping 24-Year-Old Woman in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 60-year-old man, Ajayi Femi, for allegedly drugging and raping a 24-year-old woman.

The suspect, who was brought before a court on Monday, was ordered to be remanded in a correctional centre pending further hearings.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the case was initially reported at Meiran Police Station by the victim’s sister on August 22, 2025, before being transferred to the Gender Unit for investigation.

“Further investigation, including medical tests, revealed that on the same day, the suspect spiked the survivor’s drink, rendering her unconscious before having unlawful sexual intercourse with her without her consent,” Hundeyin stated. He also disclosed that the suspect made a confessional statement during interrogation.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to pursuing justice in sexual offence cases. He further urged residents to report incidents of sexual and gender-based violence to Family Support Units across the state for prompt response and protection of survivors.
