Members of the House of Representatives have officially embarked on their annual two-month recess, with legislative proceedings expected to resume on September 23.
The break was approved during plenary on Wednesday, July 23, following a motion that was moved, seconded, and unanimously accepted by the lawmakers at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, who presided over the session, noted that the recess is part of the legislature’s normal schedule, giving lawmakers time to return to their constituencies and fulfill non-legislative obligations.
He urged his colleagues to take advantage of the break to stay connected with their constituents, assess the progress of ongoing government projects, and respond to local issues.
The adjournment brings the current legislative session to a close until activities resume later in September.
